Tim "Ripper" Owens Speaks Out About Firing


Northeast Ohio's own Tim "Ripper" Owens gave a long interview to New York city DJ Eddie Trunk, speaking at length about his unceremonious dismissal from power-metal group Iced Earth just before Christmas. Click here for highlights. Bassist Dennis Hayes, also a local guy, was cut loose along with the signer, who apparently really got the shaft. Owens, now the signer for the locally based band Beyond Fear, went from obscurity to renown when he replaced Rob Halford in Judas Priest, the story of which became the basis of the movie Rock Star, in which Marky Mark played the lead character. -- D.X.
