For Taste of the NFL, Baricelli's Paul Minnillo is Bringing Dessert

Cleveland won’t be entirely without representation when Super Bowl XLII festivities kick off in Phoenix this weekend. Cleveland chef-restaurateur Paul Minnillo, of Little Italy’s Baricelli Inn, (2203 Cornell Rd., 216-791-6500) will be making his 17th appearance at the event, as part of the annual Taste of the NFL dinner, scheduled for Saturday February 2. One of 32 participating chefs – all volunteers, one from each NFL city – Minnillo has taken part in the so-called “Party with a Purpose” since it began in Minneapolis in 1992. ... In that time, the high-priced chowdown – a ticket will set you back $500, or $600 for VIP status --- has raised more than $6.8 million for area food banks and hunger centers, including the Cleveland Food Bank. This year, Minnillo’s game plan calls for dessert -- chocolate pudding cake with candied ginger -- which he’ll make in the Baricelli kitchen and transport to Phoenix. Assisting him at home and in Phoenix is local pastry impresario Ron Seballos of Seballos Pastries. Here's hoping the Steelers' guy burns that Blue Potato Pierogie. --- Elaine T. Cicora Read Elaine Cicora's restaurant reviews, food news, and comprehensive dining guide on the restaurant page at
