It's Tequila Tuesday at McCarthy's!

Nearly all of Ron Clarkson’s buddies know where the CVS store clerk likes to start his “weekend.” After his Friday-to-Tuesday morning shift, the 38-year-old North Olmsted native bee lines for Tequila Tuesdays at McCarthy’s Ale House in Lakewood. “Some people are jealous that I can get myself smashed on a weeknight,” laughs Clarkson, who’s a shirttail cousin of the original American Idol, Kelly Clarkson. “I tell them it’s payback for not being able to go out late on a Saturday night.” To rub it in, Clarkson takes advantage of McCarthy’s free taco bar with all the works. For $2 a shot, he pounds back Jose Cuervo Especial tequila to wash down Mexico’s answer to pizza. And he’ll chase the booze with a 32-ounce pour of Miller Lite draft that comes in a souvenir cup. “It’s the best deal I can find on an off-night like Tuesday,” says Clarkson. “After a few of those, you can seriously float home.” Get friendly with Senor Cuervo from 7 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. at McCarthy’s Ale House, 16918 Detroit Road in Lakewood. Call 216-228-1340. -- Cris Claser
