Keep the day job, Jerry. As the above video clearly demonstrates, the TV host and once-rising politician will never make it as a front man – even for as undemanding a group as Cream of the Crop, the fun-loving house band that plays each Friday night at Crop Bistro, in the Warehouse District.
Shot outside the restaurant earlier this spring, the video features Springer – aided by the mysterious, lovely, and way more talented “Ana” – slogging his way through the Janis Joplin standard, "Me and Bobby McGee." (That’s Crop’s chef-owner Steve Schimoler banging on the drums, incidentally. A rotating roundup of staffers, friends, and assorted guests generally fills out the remainder of the roster.) ...
Schimoler says Springer has been an occasional guest at the restaurant – home to some of the region’s most innovative dishes and high-octane flavors – for the past several months. Word has it the TV host may be looking at buying a downtown condo. Can you say Mayor Jerry Springer?
