Ohio Part of 675-Mile 'World's Longest Yardsale'

The Worlds Largest Yardsale is this... times, like, 10,000.

23 years ago, residents along Route 127 decided that there should be one official weekend when they could plop used shoes, old clothes, nonworking television sets, and the assorted detritus you normally find at garage sales on their lawns all at the same time. It would be an event, one which people would drive to experience.

23 years later, the World's Longest Yardsale continues, having grown to cover 675 miles of Route 127, stretching from Michigan to Alabama, there is no better embodiment of America's need to buy, horde, sell, and collect than this Manifest Destiny of kitsch and junk and treasure.

And it's all rather cool.

A large portion of 127 rolls north/south through Ohio, and it was a few weeks ago that is was lined with anything and everything you simultaneously would never buy and want to buy immediately.

Check out the photo gallery from Time here and watch the video below to soak in the dusty, cluttered, amazing experience and meet the people who make the pilgrimage, wait in lines, and clog up Route 127 to see 345 different kinds of Russian nesting dolls and used pot holders. (Then admit to yourself that you'd really like to do it too.)
