Friday's not even half over yet, but we already have our criminal of the day, because there's simply no way anyone can top Selma Elmore and her tale of stupidity.
It seems that Selma was recently curious if there were any warrants out for her arrest.
Now, there are ways to find this information. Head on over to the local library, maybe take a seat next to the fat guy checking out porn, and dial up the Sheriff's website. Ask your lawyer, perhaps.
Selma Elmore did none of these things. Instead, she saw a police officer, walked up, and asked him. We suppose that's one way to find out for sure, but it's also a good way to get arrested should any warrants pop up attached to your name.
According to the AP, Lockland police officer Dan Lyons obliged Selma's odd request, discovered a warrant for allegedly failing to pony up the fine for a drug conviction, and tried to arrest her. Shocking development given that he's a police officer.
Elmore took off and shoved the officer into a building before being tracked down by backup.
The 44-year-old is now in custody not just on the original warrant, but also on charges of resisting arrest.
