Police were alerted to a possible body by the side of Chagrin Road early Sunday morning. They arrived to find the body of Mark Smith, a 45-year-old Bainbridge resident.

Smith died at the hospital from injuries sustained after apparently being hit by a car while he was walking down the road.

Cops soon traced down the car involved in the hit-skip accident and made another sad, shocking discovery.

According to WKYC:

After further investigation, police identified and located the 2009 Toyota Camry that struck Smith. It was registered to Dan Neesham, 50, of Bainbridge Township.

Neesham was found dead inside his home.

Police are not forming any conclusions about what happened until after the investigation is over.

When complete, the findings will be turned over to the Geauga County Prosecutor's office.
