Summit County has been dealing with the worst kind of environmental mischief for the past year: some derelicts have been chopping down trees. Holy balls, kids, call Batman, or Captain Planet, or Santa Claus, or something.

The ABJ reports that three teens have finally been snared after the ne'er-do-wells spent the better part of 2010 hacking away at the beautiful trees in Green, Ohio.

Summit County sheriff's deputies and Uniontown police this week arrested two 16-year-old boys on juvenile delinquency charges of criminal damaging. A third suspect also is expected to be charged.

Sheriff's officials said the tree-chopping spree has been going on for about a year in the northeast section of Green. Each tree is valued at several hundred dollars.

Last weekend, the investigation intensified after a Woodview Road resident found a plum tree cut. Deputy Ryan Knight and deputy Sgt. Ed Ahwajee, along with Uniontown patrolman Charles Hoskin, found the teens, who have admitted to an unspecified number of prior tree-cutting acts.

What happened to getting high and egging someone's house?
