LeBron James Opts Out of Fathead

Dan Gilbert and LeBron James have engaged in a not-so-veiled war of petty snipes since No. 23 ditched the Cavs. Each have taken swipes at the other over Twitter and through the media, but usually in a manner which allows them to claim that everyone just misunderstood what they meant.

Gilbert has been the most explicit of the two thanks to his infamous Comic Sans letter and his decision to discount the remaining LeBron Cavs Fatheads to $17.41, the birth year of Benedict Arnold.

Heat fans in search of a LeBron Fathead this year have been left stymied — there is no LeBron Miami Heat Fathead. Why? Another subtle move by Dan Gilbert, who owns Fathead, to irk LeBron?

No. It was LeBron's decision.

According to the blog Terez Owens (via Cleveland Frowns), LeBron made the decision to opt out of the NBA's "vinyl wall graphics category." Touche, King James.

Last night I received an email from the President of Fathead, who informed me it wasn’t Dan Gilbert who snubbed LeBron, but the exact opposite..

“The choice to not be included was entirely LeBron’s when he elected to opt-out of the NBA licensing agreement in the vinyl wall graphic category prior to the current 2010-2011 season — not Dan Gilbert’s and not Fathead’s. This is the first time ever any athlete in any league has opted out of the vinyl wall graphics category.”

Cunning move, if you ask us. LeBron's all like, "Fuck with me, Dan, and I'll fuck with you. Game on." It also makes us wish this war will never end.
