Singer-songwriter Kurt Vile, whose new album Smoke Rings for My Halo, is a great laid-back listen for those days you don't feel like doing anything, will play a free acoustic set at Music Saves on Wednesday.

Vile will be in town that night opening for former Dinosaur Jr. frontman J Mascis at the Grog Shop. That gig is a full band one with the Violators.

But we kinda like stripped-down and solo Vile, so this acoustic in-store appearance should be a real treat. And did we mention it's free?

It starts at 7:30 p.m., but you may want to get there a little early to do a little shopping and snag a front-row seat.—Michael Gallucci
