Wearing a Santa suit out in public is an acceptable fashion choice approximately one month plus one day of the year (Thanksgiving through Christmas, and then once again for Christmas in July.)
Don the big red outfit and hat any other day of the year and you're bound to get some strange looks.
Don the big red outfit and hat any other day of the year and be seen talking only to children and handing out things to children, and, well, there will be more than strange looks.
Via Mayfield Heights Patch:
A man dressed in a Santa outfit was handing out cards to children at a SOM Center Road store, making the manager uncomfortable because the jolly old elf was only talking to children. The manager called police at 4:19 p.m. Aug. 10 and an officer spoke to the suspect, who said he went to the store to buy a GPS unit and handed out cards to kids while he was there. He said he has been doing this for several years. Police told him that he needs to stop handing out cards at this store.
