So you're behind the bar, watching the shadows darken the doorway and head for the counter top, just waiting for the clock to grind the evening down so you can clear out the regulars and call it a night. As you pour the drinks, you make chit chat, playing interested in the service of the tip jar. Sob stories. Boasts. The usual. Then one lady, noticeably sloppy, happens to mention she left her one- and two-year-olds home alone so she could guzzle in public.
What do you do?
Obviously, if you're a conscientious member of society, you call the police. Which is exactly what the barkeep at Crissy's Place in North Ridgeville did when 27-year-old Monica Ashby spilled out such a confession over her cups.
According to 19ActionNews, the police immediately headed for Ashby's Elyria apartment. Inside, the two kids were asleep on a mattress. The mom was taken into custody and charged with endangering children and resisting arrest. The unnamed bartender should be commended for doing the sensible and right thing on this one, which is unfortunately a rare feat, at least in the police blotter business.
