Ah, Halloween, the time of year when every bizarre crime that finds a home here at Scene & Heard is populated by bizarre criminals wearing costumes. Fun times.
We have our first entry.
Via the West Shore Sun and Bay Village: A man was pulled over on Columbia early in the morning of October 23 after nearly causing an accident. Now let's go to the videotape:
An officer suspected the 27-year-old man — who was dressed like Tinky Winky, a character on the children’s TV show “Teletubbies” — had been drinking. The driver said he was coming from a Halloween costume party in North Olmsted and admitted to drinking beer, police said. After an officer administered field sobriety tests, the driver was arrested for operating a vehicle while impaired. He will face charges in Rocky River Municipal Court.
A reminder to not drive drunk this weekend. A DUI is bad enough. It's worse when you're doing field sobriety tests dressed like a pirate.
