Toledo congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, running in the Cleveland media market for the first time since congressional redistricting put her in the same district as Dennis! Kucinich, has done her first TV ad buy in Cleveland. According to Roll Call, she’s dropped $90,000 for the upcoming air campaign. She takes a couple of cues from Kucinich himself — not mentioning her opponent and emphasizing her common-folks roots.
The upbeat ad emphasizes her support for working people and her opposition to Wall Street bailouts. She says, “Congress shouldn’t be about money; it should be about service to the people.
She also says “I still live in the same house I grew up in — this one right here,” as she gestures to a modest white frame house behind her with a hanging basket full of pink and white flowers on the porch and leafy green trees and shrubs surrounding it. Apparently, she’s gesturing to a photograph since the maps were finalized in December. — Anastasia Pantsios
