The Best of Cleveland 2012 issue is online and on the streets now. Read it, love it. In addition to the usual categories, there were some offbeat staff picks. We'll be posting them here over the next few days.

Best Way to Burn Your Tongue Off: Jerky-n-Spice

If you’ve ever finagled an entire free lunch out of supermarket samples, you know that not only is the “try it before you buy it” approach practical, the veritable buffet is a pleasure unto itself. Jerky-n-Spice in Strongsville is well aware of this delicious fact, which is why the store offers samples of its countless varieties of jerky laid out for you to feast upon as you shop. Beef, turkey, wild game, mild, spicy, exotic — try it all. Of course, succulent dried meats are only half the game here. As the name implies, Jerky-n-Spice is also your friendly outpost for sauce needs, from the savory BBQ to the Scoville scale-topping tongue-incinerators. If you can’t make it out to the store, located in a small strip mall on Pearl Road near the Brunswick border, you can shop from their complete inventory on their website. But remember, that means no samples.
