Frank Russo is out and about these days, shopping for new glasses or drinking wine or whatever it is a government witness with an impending sentencing date does while he waits for the cuffs. Everyone else targeted by the Feds in the Cuyahoga County corruption scandal, however, are in jail.
Russo's a fascinating subject, and despite repeated attempts to talk to him over the last five months, he's been a steel-trap, preferring to stay out of the limelight as much as he can.
But that's hard to do when the taxpayers, the everyday Joes and Janes of Cuyahoga County, have questions. We all do, but one pair took it a step further and pulled out the video camera when they saw Frank Russo and tried to ask him some questions. It's, in a word, hilarious.
Sadly, the video is now private, but NewsNet5 grabbed a partial transcript. (The person who uploaded the vid made it private because they feared "retaliation" from Russo's camp. Somehow we think they're overstating the danger here.) (Update: the video is public again. Embedded below.)
“Hey, why is Jimmy sitting up in prison and you’re out eating at Grumpy’s? How does that go?” asked a man off-camera as Russo walked out of the restaurant.
“Huh?” replied Russo.
“What do you mean ‘huh’? Why are you here enjoying this beautiful day and Jimmy whole pie is locked up? asked the man.
“You know, we’re different people,” said Russo.
“When are you going away?” asked the man.
“Are you a reporter?” asked Russo.
“No. We’re just citizens of Cuyahoga County,” responded a woman who was also off-camera and apparently recording the run-in.
“I think it’s fair for us to ask questions. We’re citizens of Cuyahoga County,” she continued.
