Warren unveiled a pair of ginormous drumsticks over the weekend in tribute to the most famous dude who ever lived there for a couple years, Dave Grohl.
The Foo Fighters frontman (and former drummer for Nirvana — duh) wasn't around to check out the 900-pound sticks in person, but he tweeted some love to the place where he was born.
The image to the right is from that tweet, but here's what it says, in case you don't want to strain your eyes to read it:
"To the wonderful city of Warren, from the bottom of my heart I'd like to thank you all so much . . . For the childhood memories. For my family. For my very own alley. For the world's largest drumsticks! And for all of your support . . . But most of all for being such a great community. One that makes me proud to say . . . I am from Warren, Ohio!"
Rolling Stone has a picture and video here.
Even though Grohl was born in Warren, he moved to Washington DC when he was still a toddler. The city also renamed a street in Grohl's honor a couple of years ago.
The big-ass sticks — which have broken a Guinness World Record — will be on display until September at the Warren Amphitheater.
After that, they'll relocate to Dave Grohl Alley, where all the drunks will do permanent damage to their spines as they attempt the most epic version of "Moby Dick" ever. —Michael Gallucci
