Two Cleveland bands — Cloud Nothings and Herzog — kicked off the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum's Summer in the City series Wednesday night. Both bands played sharp, high-octane sets in front of a packed crowd on the outdoor plaza on a perfect summer evening. Herzog's pop-tinged rock was followed by Cloud Nothings' intense metallic roar. Its powerful extended instrumental sections and lead Dylan Baldi's banshee vocals are light years beyond the band's roots as Baldi's lo-fi bedroom project three years ago.
Summer in the City continues at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, with Florida's Torche and Cleveland's Ohio Sky, doing their distinct variations on dense, dreamy stoner metal.
