Ed FitzGerald's ongoing reformulation of Cuyahoga County government has taken many forms, including evaluating just about every job description, employment record, paygrade, and checking for hookers and bags of cash in the closet. Gotta be thorough.
Departments have been reshaped, folks have been laid off or fired, and now a host of folks in public works are going to be looking at a smaller number in their direct deposits.
Letters are going out today to employees to announce their new salaries, all of which were partially determined after Fitz and Crew brought in a consulting firm to look at the numbers.
Some are looking at sizable whacks to their take-home. Others not so much.
The annual salary cuts — which range from $164 to $20,923 — will save the county $214,000, said Human Resources Director Elise Hara. "This is just the continuing, evolving, methodical process of reviewing each department," Hara said.
Really? You couldn't let some poor schmuck keep his extra $164 a year? Whatever.
$214,000 in savings is nice. No word yet on how much the county paid the consultants.
