The West Side Market’s Centennial Gala is just a few days away, and it will feature some awesome culinary talent. Cleveland is fortunate to be one of the top culinary destinations in the country, and this event will feature some of the city’s finest chefs, starting with the co-chairs, Michael Symon and Jonathan Sawyer. They will be surrounded by their peers: Chris Hodgson (Hodges), Britt-Marie Culey (Coquette Patisserie), Eric Williams (Momocho, Happy Dog), Paul Minnillo (Flour), and Rocco Whalen (Fahrenheit, Rosie & Rocco’s). Additionally, the liquid chefs at Great Lakes Brewing Company will be showcasing their beer and a new brew, Butcher’s Brew.
As someone who has worked in the restaurant business and knows every one of these chefs personally, I can tell you that we are lucky to have them in our city. What I am also looking forward to is meeting the visiting chefs. They are industry leaders in their respected cities, and when I travel I have frequented their spots. On Saturday, my bucket list includes Marc Vetri from Philadelphia (Vetri, Osteria, Amis, Alla Spina), Paul Kahan from Chicago (Blackbird, The Publican, Big Star, The Violet Hour), April Bloomfield from New York City (The Spotted Pig, The Breslin Bar, The John Dory Oyster Bar) and Andrew Zimmern (Travel Channel). This will be like the All-Star game for chefs. I can't wait.
