Elyria Music Teacher Gives Special-Needs Student His Own Guitar: VIDEO

  • Grantham
Here's a heartwarming little tale of musical joy from Elyria, Ohio: Rachel Brown, Eastern Heights Middle School's music teacher, surprised seventh-grader Maykiah Grantham with his own acoustic guitar. (Video from the Chronicle-Telegram embedded below)

Grantham became so enthralled with Brown's music class as a sixth-grader that he and his teachers ensured he could join the class this year, as well.

"He excelled and he just really loved the class," Brown says.

A bit more context from the Chronicle-Telegram:

Maykiah would regularly request use of a school guitar to practice at home. Brown received permission to post a request to her musician friends for a gently used guitar that could be donated to her student. The response was overwhelming and shared by many musicians on Facebook.
