Akron Man Bites Mailman

  • Kiefer
Robert Kiefer was waiting for a check in the mail. It did not come. The day was Feb. 8.

And when Robert Kiefer learned that, no, he would not be receiving his money, he got angry. First, Kiefer shot pepper spray in the eyes of his 56-year-old postal carrier. Then, he bit the carrier's leg.

Here's the Akron Beacon Journal with the dirty deets:

Robert Kiefer, 25, was arrested Saturday on charges he assaulted the 56-year-old postal worker and then fought with Akron police officers who were called to the scene.

According the police report, officers found Kiefer and the postman embroiled in a fight in the intersection of Kling and East Thornton streets around 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police say they arrived to find a small crowd surrounding the two fighting men.

Kiefer, police said, resisted efforts to stop fighting and also fought with an officer trying to handcuff him. Police eventually sprayed Kiefer with pepper spray and subdued him, the report shows.

Kiefer is due in court Feb. 21.
