If you haven't yet heard, the Democratic party has announced that six U.S. cities are in the running to host the 2016 Democratic National Convention, and Cleveland has secured a spot on that list.

In April, the DNC invited 15 cities to bid, but it has since narrowed the pool down to six — the other five cities include Columbus, New York, Phoenix, Philadelphia and Birmingham.

Much like the Republican National Convention, which also recently selected Cleveland as a top 2016 site contender, the Democrats will evaluate the city over the coming months before making a decision, likely in early 2015.

The RNC is expected to make its decision by late summer.
