The Cleveland Browns and the word “hip” are two things that have never really gone together. Since the team’s unceremonious return in 1999, and through the ensuing 15 years of crippling depression, what is now referred to as First Energy Stadium has featured halftime dog races, no cheerleaders, speakers that sounded like they belonged in an ’85 Chevy, and Betsy Kling telling you that it sure is cold out there. Fun stuff, right?
But with president Alec Schiener at the helm, the Browns are determined to be the last kid picked in kickball no more. With publicly funded renovations, the Browns have revamped their humble abode with giant, awesome scoreboards, new escalators and a real live tongue-swinging mascot named Swagger.
And more entertainment. Cleveland’s own Machine Gun Kelly will be performing at halftime of the Browns home opener against the New Orleans Saints this Sunday. Not only will the rapper be rocking the crowd at halftime, but he’ll also be performing a song he recorded specifically for the Browns, entitled “Rock and Roll (Cleveland Browns Remix)”. They clearly didn’t choose the appropriate song title, which would have been “4-12.”
So if you’ve got tickets to see the Browns take on the Saints this weekend, get ready to see the stadium enter deeper into the 21st century. Check out the song, and the accompanying lyric video, below.
