When George Schindler first got involved with the Rotary Club of Strongsville’s annual Savor the Flavor fundraiser (now called A Taste in Strongsville), it was a sparsely attended affair at the local Holiday Inn.
Last year’s event, on the other hand, was held in the all-glass greenhouse at Petitti Garden Center where it was attended by some 500 guests. The event raised $50,000 for the Strongsville Emergency Food Bank (which will soon debut its brand new facility) and other area food banks.
“This year we’re shooting for 700 guests and $70,000,” says Schindler, managing partner of Hospitality Restaurants, which includes Blue Point Grille, Cabin Club, Delmonico’s, Salmon Dave’s and Rosewood Grill restaurants. “A Taste in Strongsville has quickly become one of Cleveland’s premier social events for the fall season.”
This year’s bash takes place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, again at Petitti Garden Center (18941 Pearl Rd.) in Strongsville. More than 25 of Cleveland’s best chefs and restaurants will be handing out both savory and sweet treats. Wine reps will be pouring choice beverages.
Participating restaurants include Strongsville favorites like Don’s Pomeroy House, Triv’s, Italian Village, Shinto and D.C. Pasta Co., and Cleveland classics like Crop Bistro, Lola Bistro, Fahrenheit, Johnny’s Bar, Pura Vida and Zack Bruell Restaurants. Of course, all Hospitality Restaurants will be represented as well.
One lucky raffle winner will enjoy an all-expenses-paid four-day trip to the Napa Valley, where they will experience private tours and tastings at the area’s most storied wineries. All told, the trip is valued at $12,000. Only 300 tickets are being sold for $100 each. Tickets can be purchased in person on Friday mornings between 7 and 8 a.m. at the Strongsville Senior Center or by sending an email to ATanzillo@ffl.net.
“This is a very special event and we’re honored to host it,” notes A.J. Petitti, vice president of Petitti Garden Centers. “It’s a great opportunity to help out the people of the city.”
Event tickets cost $75 per person. Exclusive VIP tickets, which includes live music, food catered by Lola Bistro, wines by Clos du Val of Napa Valley and cocktails by OYO Spirits, cost $150 per person.
Complimentary valet parking is available.
Seating is limited as the event has sold out each of its first four years. Tickets are on sale here.
