It’s that time of year again, folks. For 13 glorious days, dozens of local, independent restaurants will be offering special three-course prix fixe meals for just $33 (not counting tax and tip), although some restaurants diverge slightly off that price. Cleveland Restaurant Week 2014 runs from November 3 through 15.
Here are just some of the participating restaurants: Blue Point Grille, Chinato, Don's Lighthouse, Blue Canyon, Fahrenheit, EDWINS, Fire, Flour, Flying Fig, Grovewood Tavern, La Dolce Vita, Luxe, Marotta's, Moxie, Paladar, Pier W, Players, Red, Rockefeller’s, Rosewood, Spice, Taste, Thyme, Toast and Ty Fun.
The offerings range wildly from restaurant to restaurant, but all of them are a great deal — and an even better way to sample a new (or new to you) restaurant. Many of the special menus can be viewed online at the Cleveland Independents website.
Luxe Kitchen and Lounge, for example, is giving diners a first-course choice of Sweet Potato Wedges with Rosemary Aioli, Roasted Brussels Sprout Hash with Bacon, or Fried Artichokes with Capers and Parsley Aioli. Next up is ether Half Roasted Chicken, Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Herb Crusted Rainbow Trout, or Bolognese Lasagna. Wrap up the meal with your choice of House Made Cheesecake, Brownie a la Mode, or House Banana Fosters with Ice Cream.
A representative menu from Flying Fig might include a Mixed Salad with Walnuts, Apples, Pecorino and Celery, Multigrain Croutons and Red Wine Vinaigrette, New Creations Pork, Beef and Ricotta Meatballs, and Pear Cobbler with Whipped Cream.
Dine at L’Albatros and you might enjoy Gnudi with Pears, Celery Root, Truffle Butter, Chicken Roulade with Porcini Stuffing and Fig Sauce, and Apple Cinnamon Crisp.
