Kent’s Jessica Lea Mayfield to Release Album with Seth Avett

Described in a press release as “an overall truth between two friends,” Seth Avett & Jessica Lea Mayfield Sing Elliott Smith, a new album that finds Kent’s Mayfield teamed up with the Avett Brothers’ Seth Avett, is due out March 17. Produced by Avett and recorded over the last three years at Echo Mountain Studios in Asheville as well as at Avett's and Mayfield's homes, it includes 12 Elliott Smith songs.

You can check out behind-the-scenes footage of the two recording and talking about the project in a special clip posted on YouTube in which Avett refers to it as a "Frankenstein of a project" simply because it was recorded in so many different locations. Seth Avett and Jessica Lea Mayfield will tour in 2015 to support the album; dates will be announced shortly.
