Update:

It's happening: Heinen's is officially opening today in the historic Ameritrust building in downtown Cleveland.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is slated to kick off in just over an hour, and is expected to draw a crowd. Scene will be there too, so do check back later today for some photos of the event.

Happy shopping, everybody.

Heinen's will open its first downtown outlet next month, WKYC reports today.

The store will take up the first two floors of the historic Ameritrust building, located next to Cleveland's Metropolitan at the 9.

Back in July Scene caught up with one of the project's architectural designers, Process Creative Studios' John Williams, who said he was striving to maintain many of the building's original features, while also re-energizing the space for today's consumers.

"Clevelanders love Heinen's," and many are thrilled that this historic and very important building will be accessible to the public after a quarter of a century, William said.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Feb. 25.
