Akron’s experimental hard rock band If These Trees Could Talk have spent the better part of the past decade under the radar of the local rock scene. While local art rockers Mr. Gnome regularly take them on tour and acknowledge their significance, the band isn’t incredibly well-known. That might change now that Metal Blade is reissuing the band’s 2009 album Above the Earth, Below the Sky and its 2012 release Red Forest. Both albums are currently out-of-print.

After Red Forest’s release, the band embarked on a European tour and picked up some serious steam. According to a press release, “Music from the band’s catalog has been heard in Sony PS3 titles, and on NBC, MTV, VH1, the NFL, in videos for Vans, and for projects on the Sundance Film Festival.” The band signed to Metal Blade last year.

“We are extremely excited to get started on the new record,” says guitarist Mike Socrates in a press release. “ We began tracking on the 15th of January at our drummer Zack Kelly’s studio in Bath. We did Red Forest here, and this is where we feel at home. The new songs are coming together nicely, and we feel that we are progressing in a way that will challenge ourselves as well as the listener. In the meantime, we are stoked that Metal Blade has re-issued our previous two albums on CD. We hope you enjoy what you hear, as we couldn’t more excited to present the new album to you down the road.”
