Grease Fire Destroys Steve's Lunch

The aftermath - ERIC SANDY / SCENE
  • The aftermath
By 6:40 p.m. today, the fire that started in the kitchen of Steve's Lunch had destroyed the building. Firefighters at the scene cited a grease fire that got out of control.

Multiple alarms brought dozens of firefighters to the site shortly after 5:30 p.m. The fire grew massive — and quite quickly, too.

Based on conversations with people standing by on Lorain Avenue, there were no injuries. The fire department has not yet addressed the situation publicly.

March 18 update: The building was demolished late last night.
