Jonathon Sawyer, chef-owner of Trentina, Greenhouse Tavern and Noodlecat, has advanced from semifinalist to finalist for the James Beard Foundation Awards for 2015. The announcement was made today at the James Beard House in New York City.
Sawyer is the only local chef in the running.
He will compete in the category of Best Chef: Great Lakes (IL, IN, MI, OH), against heavy hitters like:
Andrew Zimmerman, Sepia, Chicago
Curtis Duffy, Grace, Chicago
Erling Wu-Bower, Nico Osteria, Chicago
Paul Virant, Vie, Western Springs, IL
The 2015 James Beard Awards will take place in Chicago (Monday, May 4, Lyric Opera of Chicago) for the first time in its 25-year history. Alton Brown has been named as the host.
