Who better to put together a Ramones tribute band than someone who used to play with a Ramone? Local singer-bassist CJ Gunn, who played in Marky Ramone’s band from 2003 to 2006, has put together the Commandos in order to pay tribute to the late, great punk act. “This is my first time doing something like this since my time with Marky's band,” he says. A three-piece, the Commandos make their debut on Friday, May 8, at the Spitfire. They’ll play two sets of “Ramones classics and deeper cuts.” In addition to Gunn, the band includes Holly Berry (Dead Enders, Subtones) on guitars and vocals and Mike Sherwood on drums.
