McDonald's is a lovely place for children. There are happy meals and usually some indoor slides and bacteria-ridden balls to play with. But a 4-month-old probably isn't going to enjoy either of those things very much, especially if said 4-month-old is alone.
Which brings us to this week's nominees for Parents of the Year award, Aaron Tate and Rachel Jaajaa, who are no doubt celebrating their momentous nomination with some friends they made in Lorain County Jail after being arrested Friday night.
It seems the two had a minor disagreement over parenting decisions. Jaajaa, who works at the McDonald's in Elyria, was working and the father, Mr. Tate, brought their 4-month-old to the fine restaurant to drop her off for the weekend. Mom didn't seem to want to take care of the baby over the weekend though. Neither did Tate.
So they did what any two responsible adults would do: argued in the middle of McDonald's and decided to just leave the baby there.
Via the Chronicle-Telegram:
“Neither of them really wanted to take the baby for the weekend,” [Police Capt. Chris Constantino] said. “They both decided collectively to leave the baby in the dining room.” Tate and Jajaa then left.
Others in the restaurant at the time immediately called police.
Costantino described the baby girl as bubbly and seemingly in good health. He said she was turned over to Lorain County Children Services.
“Officers were able to track down the parents pretty quickly and (they) were arrested,” Costantino said.
Both have been charged with child endangerment, a first-degree misdemeanor. Both were taken to Lorain County Jail.
The public Facebook pages of both Jajaa, spelled Rachel Jaajaa on the social media site, and Tate are full of pictures of the baby. Tate uses a picture of an infant as his profile picture.
As recently as Tuesday, Jajaa captioned a photo of a baby with, “I love when she falls asleep in my arms.”
