On Saturday, May 2, from 6 to 9 p.m., BurkleHagen Photography
will be hosting Broads & Booze, a fundraiser to benefit FrontLine Service, which is an organization that helps women and families in crisis. The food and booze filled event will take place in BurkleHagen’s stunning 6,000-square-foot food-photography studio in AsiaTown with city views.
“David [Hagen], Penny [Barend], Melissa [Khoury] and myself have been tossing around the idea of putting together an event that showcased the strong female Cleveland culinary community,” explains organizer Andrew Burkle. “We donate extra food from shoots from time to time to the women's shelter just down the street from the studio (FrontLine Service
). It was easy to connect the dots and have the event be a benefit for women by women. Who better to help raise awareness and funds for women than a group of strong female chefs?”
The amazing lineup of female culinary talent backing the event includes Melissa Khoury and Penny Barend of Saucisson, Karen Small of Flying Fig, Jill Vedaa of Rockefellers, Caitlin Shea and Liz Wienclaw of Philomena Bake Shop, Donna Chriszt of Table 45, Jennifer Horvath of Toast, and Anna Harouvis of Anna In The Raw.
There will be small plates from all the chefs and drinks courtesy of Platform Beer, Cleveland Whiskey, and The Wine Spot.
All of the proceeds from the $100 ticket price go to FrontLIne Services.
“There are so many amazing charities out there that really have a voice,” notes co-organizer Khoury. “And it seems that women and the rise of homeliness, domestic violence and other terrible tragedies do not. FrontLine provides so many services for the Greater Cleveland area.”
