In 2016, the Cleveland Kennel took in more than 3,400 dogs. Each year, Friends of the Cleveland Kennel fund over $55,000 worth of general and life-saving medical care for local homeless animals and low income pet owners. In addition to supporting the efforts of the Friends of the Cleveland Kennel, the organization’s annual fundraiser celebrates the efforts of local artists supporting their cause. Now in its 13th year, the Friends of the Cleveland Kennel hosts its annual Art Fur Animals benefit from 6 to 10 p.m. this Saturday, June 10, at the Cleveland Masonic Auditorium.

Last year’s fundraiser drew over 850 attendees and featured more than 125 local artists. This year’s Art Fur Animals includes a silent auction of artwork by more than 150 local artists, as well as a live auction of 23 custom-painted fiberglass dogs and cats painted by local artists. New this year, the silent auction features a mobile bidding platform by 501 Auctions. The event also includes raffle baskets valued at over $100, as well as appetizers, desserts, wine and local beer served by local celebrity bartenders. Rudy’s Strudel & Bakery will even have a pop-up pierogi stand on-site. Before the live auction, live music will be provided by DJ Funk-Shway, and emcee Rebecca Wilde, previously of Q104 but now based in Seattle, is returning to Cleveland to host this year’s event.

“We’re thrilled to feature more than 100 Northeast Ohio artists who donate their work every year to Art Fur Animals” says Becca Britton, executive director of the Friends of the Cleveland Kennel. “We rely heavily on funds for our work, and this is by far our biggest event of the year. Friends of the Cleveland Kennel supports Cleveland Animal Control's medical needs for homeless dogs, City Dogs adoption program, enrichment programs, as well as affordable wellness care and spay/neuter program for low income Cleveland residents. This event makes so many of those things possible, and we’re so grateful to the community.”

Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door. General admission includes light hors d’oeuvres and two drink tickets. VIP admission is $100 and includes unlimited bar service throughout the space all night, a private lounge area with a special food menu and a custom “swag” bag.
