"I was asked to start this meeting to set a tone to talk about leadership, but I don't think anyone needs me to set a tone," LeBron James said in the Bloomberg Global Business Forum's opening video yesterday.
The forum brought together global heads of state and successful business people like Bill Clinton, Emmanuel Macron, Tim Cook and Justin Trudeau to share ideas about making the world a better place. But it was Akron's own LeBron James, currently in California readying for the upcoming Cavs season, who was selected as the face as the event's kick-off video.
And he never got too political.
"We all know what's happening right now, how hard it is suddenly to understand so much in this world," James said. "You're in this room for a reason, we're leaders. We all know the world needs us to step up."
Former New York Mayor/one of the richest people in the world, Michael Bloomberg, hosted the event to go along with the United Nations General Assembly meetings.
Bloomberg, or presumably one of his employees, uploaded the above YouTube video with the following caption:
"Great leaders emerge during the darkest, most difficult times. NBA star and international icon LeBron James knows heads of state and global business leaders need to step up, because the world is depending on them."
