After a bidding war between multiple outlets, Hulu has won the rights to bring the adaptation of Little Fires Everywhere, the best-selling sophomore novel by Shaker Heights native Celeste Ng, to television. The show will air as an eight-episode miniseries that will be released at a date to be determined.

Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington will star and executive produce the limited series. Hello Sunshine, Witherspoon's production company, won the bidding rights for the book. Witherspoon has produced other books for television, including HBO's Emmy award winning mini-series Big Little Lies.

The novel, which takes place in Shaker Heights, is about a mother and her daughter and their fraught and complicated relationship with a well-to-do Shaker Heights family.

Ng, who will serve as a producer on the film, graduated from Shaker Heights High School and currently lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Her first novel, Everything I Never Told You, won the Amazon Book of the Year in 2014.
