It was raining all Sunday afternoon. Bleh. The Cavs game sucked. Double-blehhhhh. Those of us with streaming services, but without an antenna, discovered that the much-anticipated first home playoff game against the Indiana Pacers, on ABC, was blacked out from both Sling and the ESPN app.
And even without sound, among stunned fans at local taverns, the Cavs' beatdown at the hands of Victor Oladipo and co. was a vexing sight. LeBron looked checked out. Three-point shots were being heaved so gracelessly in the general direction of the backboard that they appeared to spring from the hands of blindfolded men. They were more accurate, at any rate, than the free throws.
Only once during the course of the 82-game regular season did the high-powered offense manage to score fewer than the 80 points they put on the board yesterday. The Pacers, on the other hand, were hyper-active on both ends of the floor and just outhustled the Wine and Gold.
It was very sad.
But within the onslaught, Modelo offered up some locally sourced #content during the commercial breaks. Check out the 30-second spot featuring UFC heavyweight champion (and Cleveland's own) Stipe Miocic above.
"The proud son of immigrants, Stipe Miocic fought for his dream while working two jobs, fighting fires for his community," the commercial tells us. "Stipe still fights fires, and still proudly fights for his heritage. The belt is a bonus."
