Midges waiting to attack just outside the Scene offices.
Going outside today in Cleveland means getting bombarded by swarming midges. That's right, the tiny, flying mosquito-looking insects are back in Northeast Ohio, as they are wont to do every June, and are as irritating as ever.
As Cleveland 19 meteorologist Jason Nicholas tweeted below, hordes of the pesky things were actually caught on weather radar last night. Scary stuff.
While the midges aren't here to suck human blood, and are not harmful, walking through a swarm of them can mean getting them in your hair and mouth. Luckily, these midge infestations, coming to us from the banks of Lake Erie, normally only last about 10 days, the bugs' lifespan.
