Weird Al to Return to the State Theatre in 2019

Always up for a gimmick, satirist Weird Al Yankovic has announced the dates for next year's three-month Strings Attached North American tour that’ll find him performing for the first time ever with a full orchestra.

The tour comes on the heels of his Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour that featured "an intimate, scaled-down show" that showcased a rotating setlist of semi-obscure deep-cut non-parody album tracks, many of which he and his band had never performed live before. That tour, which concluded earlier this year, included a sold-out show at Playhouse Square.

For the Strings Attached tour, Yankovic will return to playing the hits and classics. He'll have background singers and an entire symphony orchestra in tow.

“I wanted to follow up my most bare-bones tour ever with my most elaborate and extravagant tour ever,” says Yankovic in a press release announcing the gigs. “We’re pulling out all the stops for this one.”

He brings the show to the State Theatre on Saturday, July 6. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday.
