WKYC announced Thursday that the station has hired Canton native Stephanie Haney as a digital correspondent. Haney, lately of DailyMailTV, is an Ohio University alum and a graduate of the University of North Carolina school of law. She'll contribute content to all Channel 3's platforms, per a company press release.
“In all the places I've lived, from Los Angeles to New York City, I've always found my greatest sense of community among Ohioans,” said Haney, in a prepared statement. “Now, I'm thrilled to say I get to do that in Cleveland as part of the incredible team at WKYC."
WKYC's content director, Adam Miller, noted that Haney's knowledge of the law would be an "integral piece" of the station's digital coverage as they "dig deeper into the issues that matter most" to viewers.
Haney has experience as an on-camera host and as a writer, and WKYC execs sound excited by the possibilities for stories generated by her legal expertise, her passion for social justice and her love of pop culture.
The hire of Haney follows a spate of recent hires at the station, including local comedian Mike Polk Jr. and veteran Plain Dealer / cleveland.com reporter and columnist Mark Naymik.
