Both Maria's Field of Hope locations are officially open, and Northeast Ohioans can take photos with happy, yellow sunflowers in Avon and Sandusky over the next few weeks.

For the past six years, the the Avon Maria's Field of Hope has blown away visitors and Instagramers alike with its sheer beauty. This year, the Prayers from Maria Foundation started a second location right next door to Cedar Point's Express Hotel (1201 Cedar Point Dr., Sandusky).

The Sandusky field was the first to bloom, but Avon wasn't far behind, opening last week. Nearly 200,000 seeds were planted over both fields combined. This year could be the last for the Avon field, with local development potentially standing in the way.

The Prayers from Maria Children’s Glioma Cancer Foundation is named in honor of Maria McNamara, an Ohio 7-year-old who passed away in 2007 from a glioma (brain tumor). The foundation raises funds for research and treatment of that type of cancer.
