WKYC Studios has announced that Emily Mayfield, wife of Browns' quarterback Baker Mayfield, has joined the station as a "special correspondent." She will appear in segments this fall on Jay Crawford's noon show, Jimmy Donovan's 7 p.m. show and across the station's social media channels.
“Emily’s passion for Northeast Ohio, genuine curiosity and her gift of connecting with people in the community will come to life in her stories for WKYC Studios," said station GM Micki Byrnes in a statement provided to the media. "When Emily moved to Cleveland, she wanted to explore all that her new home had to offer. We look forward to sharing what she’s discovered.”
Content Director Adam Miller hinted at some of the areas in which Mayfield would be specially corresponding: "identifying innovative trends in the health and wellness space," for example, and "showcasing the hottest, most interesting spots in Northeast Ohio."
A segment posted today
shows Mayfield trying pilates-inspired workouts at Callie's Pilates in the 9 and Core CLE in Westlake.
Mayfield, per the press release, graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2013 and thereafter moved to L.A., "where she began her career as a patient coordinator for a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon." She has established a "large and loyal following on Instagram sharing health and beauty information."
It was superfluous to note, though the press release did, that Mayfield recently moved to Cleveland with her husband Baker.
