Instead of giving your money to giant corporations like Amazon, here’s a list of fun places and events where you can shop locally for everyone on your list this holiday season.
Holiday Market at the Screw Factory
The Screw Factory Artists’ Lofts in Lakewood is open to the public from 6 p.m. on Dec. 20 until 3 p.m. on Dec. 22. More than 100 artists and small businesses are participating in this three-day event. Be sure to bring some non-perishable food or personal care items to donate to the Lakewood Community Service Center.
Cleveland Flea Holiday Pop-Up Shop
This shop is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. inside the Van Aken Market Hall every day from now through Christmas Eve. Meet the local Cleveland Flea vendors, with special guests on the weekends for Weekend Mini-Markets.
Cleveland Bazaar Holiday
Every holiday season needs a bazaar. This year, Cleveland’s holiday gathering of Northeast Ohio makers takes place at the 78th Street Studios on Dec. 14 and 15. Their slogan is “Shop local! Support handmade!” And we couldn't agree more.
Rock ‘n’ Roll Holiday Flea Market
The Beachland Ballroom is hosting its rock 'n' roll-themed flea market on Dec. 15 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., with more than 20 venders selling music or rock-related artwork and vintage items.
Wintertide at Gordon Square
Wintertide is a big holiday festival coming up this weekend on Dec. 14. The event features live music, interactive performances, fire pits, and a beer garden, as well as local shopping.
Ediybles Holiday Cannabis Market
Anyone with a medical marijuana card, or people simply interested in cannabis and CBD, can find holiday gifts at the Ediybles event coming to Cleveland’s Red Space on Dec. 14. Tickets are $10.
Home for the Holidays Pop-Up Shop
This isn’t a specific holiday event, but a seasonal pop-up shop in Lakewood allows you to shop local for cute reindeer pillows and other holiday decor.
LEAF Community Last Market of the Year
The Leaf Community hosts a popular soup and hot drink bar at its last market of the season. Expect that and all other sorts of artisan food items at Garfield Middle School on Dec. 17.
Walkabout Tremont Light up Your Holidays
This Friday, all of downtown Tremont turns into a holiday wonderland, featuring specials at local bars and restaurants along with live music and pop-up shops.
Holiday Hops and Shops
Forest City Brewery continues the Tremont/Duck Island festivities on Dec. 14 with more shopping opportunities, snacks and, of course, beer.
Holiday Market at the Freight Building Marketplace
This two-day market is a gathering of almost every type of local craftsperson imaginable. From Dec. 14-15, the former home of the Elements Gallery will be teeming with artists, makers, growers and collectors.
Holiday Handmade Market
Hosted by Yellowcake Shop and 78th Street Studios, this Dec. 21 market showcases a variety of American products, with emphasis on all of them being handmade.
