While he was fronting Brit glam rock outfit Queen, the late Freddie Mercury was one of rock’s most flamboyant frontmen. He often wore chest-baring outfits (or no shirt at all) and looked a lot like the ringleader of a circus. And he could wail. Songs such as “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “We Are the Champions” provided the perfect vehicles for his operatic voice. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, Queen was a great band. Almost Queen, a cover band fronted by Joseph Russo, tries to capture some of that magic. Russo, who was on several Broadway tours before turning his attention to the tribute act, certainly looks the part. He sports a Mercury-like mustache and wears the same kind of outrageous outfits. Tonight at 8 at the Akron Civic, Almost Queen tries to bring some of Mercury's magic to the stage. Check the Civic website for more info.
